The St Paul’s Project

The new multi-purpose Church Centre will have:

Flexible, accessible and inclusive space for worship, social events and soft play

Hall with independent facilities, suitable for potentially vulnerable groups such as nurseries and caring for those with addictions, disabilities or mental health problems

 A Café

Small meeting and office rooms

Dedicated quiet chapel, open to all

Two one-bedroom flats.

The new Health Centre facilities will include:

Full GP and nursing services

Minor operations

Joint injections

Patient Group Consultations

This will reduce the need of the those living locally to attend the Royal Berks Hospital for these services.

Where the Project is & What next

Planning application submitted to Reading Borough Council .

We have held local community drop-in meetings.

Temporary accommodation for the play barn,

We will endeavour to continue to provide facilities for existing regular bookings (Mencap, over 60s Coffee Club etc) all through the building of the Health Centre. Note though, parking will be restricted during this time, so one off bookings for parties etc will probably be stopped. once building commences.

We are looking for people to become involved in a wide range of mini-projects to address some of the day-to-day practical needs of the community, and/or in what we are all called to do – “to reach out to the people of Whitley Wood with good news of the Kingdom of God”

Approaching local support organisations and charities  to see whether they would like space in the new building to offer support to the local community.

Looking into ways to make the church  building self funding to support itself  after the build.
