Local Links

We work with other churches and local organisations in partnership to benefit those in the local community. Below are a few of the organisations we work with:

CAP (Christians Against Poverty) offer services to tackle the causes of debt and poverty. They run: CAP Debt Help, CAP Job Clubs and CAP Release Groups. At the at Whitley Wood Community Centre, we run the 7 week CAP Life Skills Course 3 times a year which equips people to live well on a low income. https://capuk.org/

CCA (Christian Community Action) support volunteers by helping them to learn new skills, rebuild their confidence and get into paid employment. CCA provides those in need by recycling donations of furniture, clothing, household goods and bric-a-brac. www.ccam.org.uk

Readifood is run by Faith Christian Group. They have provided an Emergency Food Parcel Service in Reading for over 25 years. They currently deliver over 140 Emergency Food Parcels every week to families and individuals across the greater Reading area. http://readifood.org.uk/

South Reading Scouts are a dynamic and thriving Scout group based at the Reading Scout & Guide HQ in the South of Reading. They welcome boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 years and adult volunteers of all ages!

St Agnes over 60s Club. A weekly social club meeting on Wednesdays for over 60s run by Sue and John Englesfield. 07903 619429.

Street Pastors. Street Pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who care about their community. They are usually on patrol from 10.00pm to 4.00am on a Friday or Saturday night to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets. www.reading.streetpastors.org.uk
